So You Just Bought an Apple Ipad
By teksavvyguru
Well holiday season 2010 ended just a few months ago and one of the most popular gifts was Apple Ipads. The Ipad is the perfect gift for anyone and everyone of all ages, not to mention the most popular tablet on the market. Everyone is happy with there new tablets, but suddenly Apple makes an announcement that on March 2nd, 2011, there will be an Ipad event. People around the world, especially bloggers, went nuts with ideas of an Ipad 2. Some even went as far as skipping any stipulation on the Ipad 2 and went straight to the Ipad 3. There had been leaked pictures, circulating the internet, of the body of Apple's new tablet and cases to hold it. People went crazy.
Personally I knew Ipad 2 was coming early 2011. Its simple to tell when Apple is going to release new products. They day they announce a new product, you just go to the same day on your calendar, the following year, and mark it as the announcement of the same product, but the next best one. Apple has always done that, starting with the Iphone back in the summer of 2007. From 2007 to the present, Apple has announced and released a new version of the Iphone. Has it gotten better? Yes. Do people buy the new products? Yes. Apple knows how to market and knows how to keep its competitors behind them.
So April 2010, the initial Ipad is released. Millions of Ipads have been sold since then, with the peak of sales within the first month and holiday season 2010. So now March 2, 2010, has come and gone and the Ipad 2 has been announced. The Ipad 2 is said to have brand new features that the first cannot compete with, and in someways it does. The biggest new feature is the addition of not just one but two cameras. Yup two! And yes that means there will be video conferencing just like on the Iphone 4. The cameras resolutions is said to be unknown, but speculation has said it will be the same resolutions as the Iphone 4 and theres nothing wrong with that. With cameras being added, theres new opportunities for existing iphone apps to be scaled up and work well on the Ipad 2 and the opportunity for new apps to be developed to fully utilize the new capabilities of the new Ipad 2. Another key feature that is grabbing peoples attention is the size of the device. Its thiner and lighter than the original Ipad. At first I thought, "how is that possible?" Well its Apple so anything is possible, I guess. One last feature that is coming to the Ipad 2, as well as the original Ipad, Iphone 4 (att only) and Ipod Touch, is IOS 4.3, the latest software update. With that comes better safari browser performance and better app performance over all.
So all and all the Ipad 2 looks like a great device, very near its predecessor, but does things the older model just cannot. If I had the opportunity to rename the Ipad 2, I would have called it the Ipad Air. Thats the most comparable thing I can think the Ipad and the Ipad 2 are to. The Ipad is to the Macbook Pro line, rugged sturdy, reliable, and thicker, where as the Ipad 2 is to the Macbook Air, smaller, thiner, and just that much more portable, but still has all the same features as the bigger model.
So the real question is are you going to buy and Ipad 2? Well there are a lot of options to consider. If you have the old Ipad and only just recently bought it, you can get a refund of 100 dollars from apple toward the Ipad 2. Or you could sell it online and probably make a little more. If you do not already own an Ipad, the Ipad 2 will be the price of the current Ipad, and the old Ipad will drop in price. Personally, I am going to try and sell my Ipad for as much as I can get for it, and buy the new one. You cannot go wrong buying an Ipad, no matter what model, it all just depends on your needs and wants for features.
